Milan are looking to replace Hakan Calhanoglu and could reportedly make a move for Everton playmaker James Rodriguez.

The Rossoneri are studying the market for a new trequartista after Hakan Calhanoglu left on a free transfer to join local rivals Inter this week.

Il Corriere dello Sport reports the Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes has given the Diavolo an idea to replace the Turkey international with the former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich attacking midfielder.

The newspaper reports the Colombian feels left behind and has started looking at different alternatives after Carlo Ancelotti left Everton to re-join Real Madrid in La Liga.

Ancelotti had previously coached James at Real Madrid and at Bayern Munich, before he brought him to Goodison Park last summer.

Milan are currently working on securing Olivier Giroud on a free transfer from Chelsea this summer and a move for Rodriguez could depend on the France international.

Rodriguez moved to Everton from Real Madrid on a free transfer in September 2020 and contributed six goals and five assists in his 23 Premier League games with the Toffees.

The Colombia international is currently tied to the club until June 2022 and Everton have a club option to extend his current deal with one more year.
