Mediapro has responded to losing Serie A’s TV rights by purchasing Ligue 1’s 2020-24 package for €762m.
The deal also sees the French League surpass the Italian top flight in terms of receipts for domestic rights to show live football as it comes on top of the €320m from BeIN Sports and €50m from Free.
The Spanish broadcaster had won the auction for the 2018-21 Serie A rights but lost its tender after its bid was considered to have broken anti-trust regulations.

CEO Jaime Roures has also confirmed that his company will launch a dedicated Ligue 1 channel, which is expected to be made available to all TV operators in France.
