Mediapro has officially presented an appeal against the revocation of their tender for the Serie A rights.
The Spanish broadcaster paid €1,000,050 for Serie A’s TV rights for 2018-21 in February, but its purchase was quickly challenged by Sky, which felt the former was not in a legal position to buy them.
Yesterday a court in Milan revoked the award of the rights, deciding that Mediapro’s bid had broken competition law and wasn’t “properly formulated”.

Today though the broadcaster has launched an official appeal, stating in court papers that it “believes that its marketing proposal complies with the provisions of the contract with the Lega Serie A and the provisions of the Melandri Law”.
Mediapro “awaits the resolution of the appeal and will, logically, respect the court’s decision”.
