Alessandro Bastoni and Samir Handanovic did not communicate, the goalkeeper came outside the box, but Cristiano Ronaldo pounced on the defender to steal the ball and place a snooker shot in off the inside of the far post of the empty net.

The Portuguese star was the MOTM in the game, according to Italian sports papers.

Ronaldo was rated 7.5/10 by each one of the three Italian sports papers while Bastoni and Handanovic were the worst players on the pitch.

La Gazzetta dello Sport wrote the goalkeeper “came outside the box for some inexplicable reason,” while Bastoni was un “a bit presumptuous and a bit superficial.

"That’s not how you face CR7," the pink paper added.
