Italian media heaps praise on Atalanta goalkeeper Juan Musso who produced ‘decisive’ saves in La Dea’s 2-2 draw against Villareal.

The Argentinean shot-stopper marked his first Champions League appearance with a memorable performance.

The former Udinese star began the game with two desperate saves on Gerard Moreno, but the most important one was in stoppages, once again to deny the Spanish striker at the near post.

“That’s why Gasperini wanted to sign him,” wrote La Gazzetta dello Sport, rating the 27-year-old 7.5/10.

He received the same treatment from Il Corriere dello Sport, while Tuttosport rated Musso 8/10, adding that “Three-quarters of Atalanta’s point belong to him.”

Musso joined Atalanta in a €20m deal from Udinese in the summer, so La Dea sold Pierluigi Gollini to Tottenham on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.

  1. Got a chance to watch some of the game. I thought Atalanta blew a great chance to pick up 3 valuable points. I hope this tie doesn’t screw them from advancing.
