Media Watch: impressive Locatelli, McKennie is lost

Manuel Locatelli was among the best players in Juventus‘ win over Torino, while Italian media criticised Weston McKennie and Moise Kean.

The Bianconeri sealed their fourth win in all competitions by beating Torino 1-0 at the Stadio Grande Torino.

Manuel Locatelli scored the winner with five minutes remaining with a side-foot finish from the edge of the box. It was his second goal in the last two games with the Bianconeri.

The former Milan and Sassuolo man was one of Juventus best players of the game. He was rated 7 by La Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Corriere dello Sport and 7.5 by Tuttosport.

Other Bianconeri stars, such as Giorgio Chiellini and Matthijs de Ligt got the same ratings, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Locatelli was the best player on the pitch.

Italian sports papers praised him not just for the decisive goal, but also for his ‘tactical intelligence’ through the 90 minutes.

On the other hand, Weston McKennie and Moise Kean were anything but impressive.

The Italian striker was subbed off after just 45 minutes, while the American midfielder remained on the pitch for the whole game, but made too many mistakes and misplaced passes.

The former Schalke 04’s man performance was so disappointing that La Gazzetta dello Sport asked: ‘Where’s the midfielder that had impressed upon his arrival in Italy?’

McKennie was rated 5/10 by all three Italian sports papers. Similar to Kean, who got 5 from Gazzetta and Tuttosport and 5.5 from Tuttosport.
