Massimiliano Allegri was rated 4/10 by all Italian sports papers with the Italian tactician blamed for his tactical decision on Federico Chiesa.

The Bianconeri boss lined up a 3-5-2 formation with the Italy international surprisingly starting as a right-wing back. It’s a role hadn’t covered since his Serie A debut with Fiorentina in 2016.

La Gazzetta dello Sport highlighted that playing Chiesa in that position left Juventus ‘exposed’ although ‘individual mistakes did the rest’ in one of the most humiliating defeats in the history of the Bianconeri.

Chiesa was unable to cope with defensive duties and his role was ‘a problem’, wrote Tuttosport that also criticised Allegri for playing the Italy international out of position.

It’s no coincidence that the former Fiorentina star is one of the players with the highest grades in this morning’s Pagelle as he was given tasks he was no longer accustomed to.

Il Corriere dello Sport wrote that Juventus only existed for 10 minutes and was ‘blown away almost as if players were on the pitch by chance.’

  1. Its nothing new with this coach. We’ve seen it before. Allegri wanted to drag this game on for a 2 hour bore fest and play for a tie or lucky 1 goal win. Spalletti was having none of it this time, knows he has a superior team, so he put his big boy pants on and tore Allegri a new one.
