Inter midfielder Gary Medel has been given a three-game ban for elbowing Atalanta’s Jasmin Kurtic.

The Chilean international lashed out in the 2-1 defeat yesterday, but his actions weren’t spotted by the match officials.

However, today’s Lega Serie A disciplinary report has, as expected, used video evidence to punish him.

The Lega noted that it “acquired and and examined TV images” and “considered it clear from these images that Medel, with the ball not in playable distance, struck Kurtic with a violently to the face with his left arm, with a sudden and voluntary gesture”.

After confirming that referee Daniele Doveri hadn’t seen the incident, a three-game ban was decided upon.

Napoli forward Manolo Gabbiadini has been given a two-match ban for “seriously unsportsmanlike conduct” after kicking Crotone’s Gian Marco Ferrari.

Chievo’s Lucas Castro has also been banned for one match after his red card at the weekend, while Atalanta Coach Gian Piero Gasperini has a one-match touchline ban for insulting Doveri and then protesting when he was sent to the stands.
