Juventus loanee Weston McKennie admits the first thing he thought when Leeds United approached the Old Lady is that many of his compatriots are at the club ‘then I did my research.’

The American midfielder has completed a loan move with an option to buy to Leeds United with both Juventus and the Premier League side confirming the deal on Monday, January 30.

Leeds have released several videos on social media, showing their new purchase, who will reunite with his compatriots Brenden Aaronson, Tyler Adams and coach Jesse Marsch.

McKennie admitted that the first thing he thought when the Premier League side approached Juventus last week was that his compatriots would welcome him at Elland Road.

“I did my research and one thing that stood out was the support, it’s wow…I was really excited to be here.

“There is a big American support here, it’s easier, play with some of the guys of the national team, it was an easy decision.”

Multiple reports claimed last week that McKennie had spoken to both Marsch and Adams before agreeing to terms with Leeds.

McKennie spent two and a half years at Juventus, scoring 13 goals in 96 appearances.
