In light of seeing the now-41-year-old confirm his intention to leave Barcelona at the end of the season, Mazzone is hopeful that he will find himself coaching in Italy one day soon.
“I hope he will come to Italy because he is an exquisite guy. I hope for him that he finds an important team,” Mazzone told Radiosport24.
“Maybe this will be Roma, otherwise surely a team like Milan that would challenge for the Scudetto.
“But, I think that Roma, who have invested so much in the Giallorossi, would be willing to make some sacrifices to obtain a technician of the calibre of Pep, the fans want more, I hope the club has noticed this.
“Guardiola has a sense of humour and is honest, and he transmits these qualities. I am very fond of him and sorry to have seen his adventure with Barcelona end this way.
“I would never have expected his farewell. But there are some Coaches who can get tired of certain situations, when you feel something and you are not as ‘followed’ by your players as before.”
