Walter Mazzarri was delighted with Torino’s second half performance after they twice fought back to claim a draw at Napoli.

The Granata may be out of Europa League contention but goals by Daniele Baselli and Lorenzo De Silvestri ensured they virtually ended their opponents’ faint Scudetto hopes.

“We put in a good defensive performance, although we made too many technical errors,” Mazzarri explained after the 2-2 draw at the San Paolo.

“We put in a good defensive performance, although we made too many technical errors,” Mazzarri explained after the 2-2 draw at the San Paolo.

“We pretty much scored goals against ourselves.

“In the second half you saw our game – I am very happy.”

Although the former Napoli boss is disappointed his side cannot secure European football, he believes the final matches of the season will help him to plan for the next campaign.

“Our positive sequence of matches was interrupted by a pair of difficult matches.

“At the moment where we needed to make the final push, some important players were injured and we couldn’t do it.

“But this period will help me and the club to plan for the future.”
