Walter Mazzarri admits Torino “really did think we could win this” after a late 1-1 draw with Juventus, but praised debutant Bremer.

“It does hurt, as we really did think we could win this,” confessed the Coach on Sky Sport Italia.

“It does hurt, as we really did think we could win this,” confessed the Coach on Sky Sport Italia.
“At the end, Juve were pushing us back and we wasted several opportunities to hurt them on the counter-attack, because the spaces were there. We could’ve hit them with Ola Aina and I strengthened the right flank because Lorenzo De Silvestri was struggling.
“Unfortunately, we weren’t concentrated enough, Ronaldo is a phenomenon and he will punish every error. The key in football is to make the most of your chances and we didn’t do that, which is a pity, because we allowed Juve very little really.”
Mazzarri surprised by picking Brazilian defender Bremer, who only had a handful of minutes in Serie A and was given his first start tonight.
“The defence held out well and Bremer was exceptional. He has spent eight months working on his technique in training, this is his full debut and if not for the goal, his performance would’ve been perfect. If you let Ronaldo jump, he’ll take off and not come back.”
Torino would’ve temporarily caught Atalanta in the fourth and final Champions League berth with a victory, but could now drop back down the table.
“It’s true that we’d have been further ahead with three points, but we’ll play every game the way we did tonight and then we’ll see where we are.”
