Inter have lost two on the bounce and host Chievo on Monday night, so Walter Mazzarri insists “the season is not compromised.”

“We hope to turn the situation around straight away, as we know that results count,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

Over the last seven days they have lost to Lazio” data-scaytid=”4″>Lazio in Serie A and been knocked out of the Coppa Italia Round of 16 by Udinese” data-scaytid=”7″>Udinese.

“Tomorrow we need a great performance with good football, focused defending and hoping incidents go our way.”

Yesterday Honorary President Massimo Moratti attended training and patron Erick Thohir sent a video message from Indonesia.

“I was certain we all had the same ideas at club level. We are all united and you saw that with Moratti’s presence and Thohir’s message. This is our first transfer session with the new owners and we’re working on both bringing in reinforcements and whittling down the squad. Please, let us discuss the game and not transfers. I don’t want us to get distracted.”

Mazzarri became irritated when told Inter’s season was ‘compromised’ already by their Coppa Italia exit.

“Who talked about objectives? The important thing is to grow. I knew my choices could’ve been risky, but they had to be made. We never said our target was to win the Coppa Italia, but simply to go as far as possible.

“It’s normal that as time goes on in Serie A it becomes more difficult, as the opponents like Chievo study you and can cause problems. I don’t want to say anything about my line-up, as I do not intend to help a fine Coach like Eugenio Corini.

“I never had Mauro Icardi at my disposal, while Ishak Belfodil has proved he still needs to find his role. Perhaps he should’ve played more often, but I had to earn points. Players who aren’t yet at Inter level can risk losing you points.

“Diego Milito was very unlucky with his injury relapse, so now we hope he’ll improve. You need a champion like him to drag forward the team in difficult moments. I want people to understand our situation and to help us out, including tomorrow.

“I watched back our defeat to Lazio and realised we played the better football, whereas Lazio played like a small team. In all these games I have never seen Inter dominated by an opponent. Perhaps against Udinese for the first 10 minutes, but that was it.”

This week Mazzarri complained at being compared with Milan, to which Max Allegri replied that his team were still in Europe and the Coppa Italia.

“I try to avoid comparisons. I was just trying to defend my team, not attack anyone else’s.”
