Walter Mazzarri is concerned as Inter take on Torino with a revamped defence, but welcomes back Hernanes.

“Torino play good football and can put anyone under pressure, so we must do well both attacking and defending,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“I tried to transmit my mentality to the team, which means we have to take the initiative.”

The Nerazzurri have to reshuffle at the back, as both Juan Jesus and Walter Samuel are suspended.

“I have faith in all my players. I don’t like talking about individuals, as the whole team contributes to defensive manoeuvres.

“I ask my team to play well and win with a good performance. In these 12 remaining games we have to collect as many points as possible.”

Inter are unbeaten in four and fresh from a 0-0 draw away to second-placed Roma.

“I corrected mistakes and we are still not getting the results we deserve, but that too we can change. It’s tough to play well against teams that clam up, so we need to find that moment that breaks the deadlock, remaining concentrated to avoid counter-attacks.

“We always create our scoring opportunities in every game and have to put the balance of the match in our favour as soon as possible.”

Hernanes is back in the squad after a knock and is expected to start tomorrow afternoon.

“Hernanes has experience and at Lazio he took free kicks, penalties and scored many goals. It’s one of the reasons why we signed him to improve in these situations.

“I have told the lads that everyone is a first choice and if they do well one week they have the opportunity to play again the next round.

“Fredy Guarin is not consistent throughout the 90 minutes and he is aware of that too. It’s not a physical issue, so I’d like him to improve his concentration to become a top level player. Each player has his own characteristics, some are more fired up than others, but that’s human nature.”

Danilo D’Ambrosio left Torino in bitter circumstances over the January transfer window when he refused to sign a new contract, but has struggled to make an impact at Inter.

“His introduction is also decided by those who played first. I have to look to them when making decisions on who plays the next game. If I thought it was more of an advantage to play D’Ambrosio, then I would. I spoke about everything with him and when I start him it’ll mean he is ready.”

President Erick Thohir will be in the stands tomorrow afternoon and Mazzarri was asked about their rapport.

“It’s the usual rapport between a President and his Coach. He tells me what he wants to see and I give him my explanation. The club sets the guidelines, while I also tell the President my ideas. It is a continual exchange of views.

“Of course we want to win for us and for Thohir, but the lads are concentrated on the field. They don’t feel extra pressure when he is in the stands.

“We’ve already had our meetings to prepare for next season and the next few games are also useful for me to evaluate who could stay or go.

“I really think we will have a better squad next season. We’ve already got Hernanes and so next term we can get off to a really strong start.”

Mazzarri revealed Ricky Alvarez is not 100 per cent fit, while he commented on Nemanja Vidic signing a contract with Inter this week.

“Vidic’s career speaks for him. He is an important player, but I prefer not to say anything else because he’s not at my disposal until June.”
