The Partenopei will only fail to qualify for the Champions League knockouts if they lose at already-eliminated Villarreal and City beat Bayern Munich.

“I say simply being in Spain on the last day talking about possible qualification is already a big success,” smiled the Coach.

“We know that a difficult game awaits us in a passionate arena that we already experienced last season in the UEFA Cup. But we are here now and we’ll give everything we’ve got.”

Roberto Mancini stated this week that Manchester City were still a superior team to Napoli, regardless of who qualifies.

“We have an advantage and want to make the most of it, especially as we are the only side to have taken points off Bayern Munich so far,” noted Mazzarri.

“Mancini is right that we cannot compare to their amazing squad. However, we are a point above the Manchester City superpower and we have the best chance of qualifying for the next round.

“Qualification would be a stratospheric achievement. I’ve made nearly all my choices and we must treat this as a game like any other, without feeling the pressure of it being decisive. I want a clear-headed and clinical Napoli who play the game our way.

“We have grown exponentially in only a few months and have superior motivation to Villarreal, but there is the risk of too much pressure. At the end of the 95 minutes, we will see where we are.”
