Walter Mazzarri thanked President Massimo Moratti for his team talk as Inter prepare for Sassuolo and shrugged off Juventus comparisons.

The patron visited the training ground this morning ahead of the 11.30am UK time (10.30 GMT) Serie A fixture at the Mapei Stadium. Click here for a match preview.

“Moratti came to fire up the side and what he said had to do with the prestige of this club,” Mazzarri said in his Press conference.

“We’ll be able to see the real step up in quality of the side in a game like this one against Sassuolo, as concentration has to be at 100 per cent.”

The visit also came as Moratti came closer to selling 70 per cent of Inter to Indonesian investor Erick Thohir.

“Moratti is in love with this club and any of his decisions will be made purely for the good of the Nerazzurri. Evidently football is changing and he felt these new investments were needed.”

Inter had a dismal campaign last season and appear to be reborn under Mazzarri, leading some to suggest they can follow the same path as Antonio Conte’s title-winning debut at Juventus.

“Perhaps the only analogies I can see are that both teams finished far down the table and missed out on Europe. These are strong clubs who came from two years with relatively poor placement, but I don’t see any particular similarities.

“If we’re talking about the grit and determination of Conte’s Juve, then maybe, but I always look at my own players and not comparisons.

“We must continue with our feet on the ground and the next few games will tell us if we deserve all the compliments received so far.”
