For the 52-year-old, though, thoughts of immediate success is not beyond his current crop of players.
“It will not be easy, but this year we want to return immediately to the Champions League,” Mazzarri has told reporters at an event this week.
“With Napoli I have shown that I can carry out a particular project. Ours is a project that will advance over time.
“We have just begun a new cycle, and no-one has pointed out that we are playing with many youngsters.
“It is similar to that of Barcelona from a few years ago, in looking ahead and like them, we will return to winning.
“The value of players at Inter today is different with respect to the past. So we have to find our quality through work. You don't only make a great team with large wages.”
