The 2-0 Coppa Italia victory sent the Partenopei through to the semi-finals, but Claudio Ranieri and his players felt Diego Milito was denied a spot-kick.
“Ranieri is a good Coach who I admire, but if he says that then he also has to remember they should’ve had two men sent off!” sniped Mazzarri.
“Wesley Sneijder should’ve been given a red card for that horrible foul on Walter Gargano, while Cristian Chivu deserved a second booking. I think if any team was penalised in this game, it was Napoli.”
Tonight’s result ended the Nerazzurri’s run of seven consecutive victories in all competition and knocked out the reigning Coppa Italia holders.
“Inter were in a great moment of form, which says a lot about what we achieved tonight,” continued Mazzarri.
“I think our performances are always good, whether against the big clubs or smaller ones. All my lads are first choice players and having many champions in a squad is not a problem. I could even field Goran Pandev with the ‘Three Tenors’ every now and then.
“As for Gokhan Inler, I always spoke clearly with the fans and told them they have to cheer on a player rather than criticise him. He wasn’t terribly relaxed, but he worked hard.”
