Inter Coach Walter Mazzarri has defended Nemanja Vidic following criticism after the 2-2 draw with Napoli.
The Serbian was criticised following the match after heading a Napoli throw into the path of Jose Callejon for the Vesuviani’s first goal.
It has continued a difficult start to life in Serie A for the defender, but his Coach is sticking behind him.
“Vidic is a player and I’m the Coach,” Mazzarri told his Press conference ahead of Inter’s Europa League clash with Saint-Etienne, whilst sat alongside the 33-year-old.
“The Coach is responsible for what happens on the field, regardless of the type of defence.
“Some people have blamed him for Callejon’s goal, but I’d say he made an headed interception and had the misfortune of an unfavourable rebound.
“The error was committed by those who left the attacker free, not of Vidic who was where he was meant to be.
“I say this to those who analyse matches in a superficial way and put the blame on people who aren’t at fault.”
