Walter Mazzarri is on the verge of being sacked by Napoli having collected fewer points than Rudi Garcia in 12 Serie A matches.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis is set to meet Francesco Calzona today and will likely put under contract the ex-assistant to Maurizio Sarri and Luciano Spalletti to replace Mazzarri until the end of the season.

The Tuscan tactician has only collected 15 points in 12 Serie A matches since replacing Rudi Garcia in January. The Frenchman had earned 21 points in the opening 12 matches this season and was sacked when the Partenopei sit fourth in the Serie A table, while now they are 9th, outside a European placement.

Mazzarri has won four Serie A games, lost five and drew three times including Saturday’s 1-1 stalemate against Genoa at the Stadio Maradona.

Napoli host Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 on Wednesday, but Mazzarri may not be on the Partenopei dugout in two days.
