Walter Mazzarri believes Inter will respond positively to Sunday’s defeat to Cagliari and hits back at Tommaso Giulini.

After an impressive start to the season the Nerazzurri stumbled to a shock 4-1 defeat at home to Cagliari on Sunday.

“Today I spoke with the players, they know what I think and I believe they are all convinced of how to improve after yesterday,” the 52-year-old commented in an interview with ITV Italia, which will air in full tonight during the program ‘Il derby del lunedi’.

The fans whistled the team off after the game.

“It’s normal when you lose a game like we lost yesterday. It’s clear on Thursday we will have to improve beyond the result.

“Also in Florence we will need a big performance to show that this was only a hiccup.

“Put it this way, because we must start again – this is the only game not like the others and we will work on it.”

Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini suggested Inter had underestimated the Sardinians.

“I don’t look at other people’s houses. Giulini, regardless of the fact that he won, should look at Cagliari’s problems, as I think about the problems of my team.”
