There is some good news for Roma going into tomorrow’s game with Juventus, as Borja Mayoral has recovered from COVID-19 and is available again, but could Ainsley Maitland-Niles be thrown straight in for his debut?

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday at 17.30 GMT.

The development this afternoon is that Mayoral was spotted back in training at the Trigoria ground, having posted a negative COVID-19 test.

He had been in self-isolation after testing positive last week.

However, the Giallorossi are still depleted, as Rick Karsdorp and Gianluca Mancini sit out bans following their red cards in the 3-1 defeat to Milan on Thursday.

Leonardo Spinazzola is injured, Daniel Fuzato still has COVID-19, while Amadou Diawara and Ebrima Darboe are on Africa Cup of Nations duty.

It is possible that new signing Ainsley Maitland-Niles will be thrown straight into the starting XI for his debut, just hours after completing the loan transfer from Arsenal.

Mourinho had said Maitland-Niles was an essential signing precisely because there were no alternatives on the right for Karsdorp.

The Dutchman missed only one Serie A game this season, the 3-0 defeat to Inter, while he was also out for the 6-1 Europa Conference League loss at Bodo/Glimt.
