Dario Nardella, the mayor of Florence, has expressed his disappointment following rumours that Dusan Vlahovic broke COVID rules to take his medicals with Juventus.

The 22-year-old Serbian striker joined the Turin side in a deal worth €80m total earlier today, signing a five-and-a-half year contract worth €7m net per season. His transfer has enraged Fiorentina fans, with a number of insulting banners seen outside the Artemio Franchi stadium in recent days.

As seen on Twitter, the mayor of Florence Nardella is concerned that Vlahovic may have broken the COVID isolation rules in order to take his medicals with Juventus.

“If confirmed, the news that Vlahovic has violated the national rules on isolation by leaving Florence early is very serious. A sports champion who behaves like this! What a disappointment.”

It’s likely that Vlahovic did not break the COVID rules, with journalist Romeo Agresti reporting that he was given the approval by the Local Health Authority in Turin to take his medicals with Juventus.

The 22-year-old Serbian striker tested positive for the virus six days ago, and Italian regulations state that another test can only be carried out after seven days, unless special exemptions apply.
