‘Maxi Lopez up for sale’

Catania chief executive Pietro Lo Monaco says he is prepared to listen to offers for star striker Maxi Lopez this summer.

The 27-year-old Argentine striker made a real impact in his first six months at the club after signing from Gremio in January 2010.

He scored 11 goals in 17 games and helped Catania survive in Serie A under the stewardship of Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Napoli, Milan and Juventus have all expressed an interest in Lopez, although his stock has fallen along with his strike rate this season.

The former River Plate and Barcelona centre-forward has scored just eight goals in the current campaign, although Mihajlovic is said to be keen to have Lopez again at Fiorentina.

"He is one of the best strikers in our League," Lo Monaco said. "He has technical and physical qualities. Maxi can do the attacking side of things by himself.

"He needs to motivate himself to do well and has found his warrior spirit again. He'll definitely get into double figures even if he has not had a great season.

"If a suitable offer were to arrive in the summer, both Maxi and his teammate Matias Silvestre would leave."
