The Argentine forward turned 37 years old in April and was out of contract after his one-season spell with Sambenedettese in Serie C.
The well-travelled player started out at River Plate, moving on through Barcelona, Real Mallorca, FC Moscow, Gremio, Catania, Milan, Sampdoria, Chievo, Torino, Udinese, Vasco da Gama, Crotone and Sambenedettese.
Maxi Lopez also had a stormy marriage with Wanda Nara, which collapsed when she got together with and then married his then-Sampdoria teammate Mauro Icardi.
