‘Maxi is ready to step up’

The agent to Maxi Lopez has given a ringing endorsement of his client, stating that he is ready to fill the void left by Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Milan.

Ibrahimovic is set to sit out League clashes with Udinese, Cesena and Juventus after being handed a three-game League ban for his dismissal against Napoli on Sunday.

Lopez, who joined on an initial loan deal this January, has so far only featured from the bench, but his agent believes he is prepared to make the step up to replace Ibra in the starting line-up, if called upon.

“Should Maxi be called up by Max Allegri then he will give his best,” enthused Andrea D’Amico to Tuttomercatoweb.com.

“He is a physical player, has great talent, both technically and physically and he will undoubtedly make a contribution to the build-up passages of play, and beyond.”

D’Amico also represents Gennaro Gattuso, but was reluctant to confirm or deny reports that the player is looking to renew his Rossoneri contract.

“At this time the renewal is the least of his problems. Our desire is to get him feeling good and then we will see about the rest, particularly as to the man’s regards.

“Then with Milan we will see about the rest – the Rossoneri is his home and the club have been absolutely fantastic in these difficult times.”
