The Federal Court of Appeal would not make a ruling on his six-month ban for failing to alert authorities to a potential fix, as it requested further evidence and investigation, which could include testimony in front of the judges.

“I will cheer on Lazio from the stands instead,” he wrote on Twitter.
While Mauri insists he did nothing wrong, the prosecutor Stefano Palazzi lodged his own appeal to have the original match-fixing charge reinstated and the ban extended to over four years.
“The further investigation will confirm, as if it were still needed, that the player is totally extraneous to any suggestion of illegality,” read a note from Mauri’s lawyers.
“We hope that the investigation can be completed quickly, so that we can reach the right decision as soon as possible and return Mauri to football activity.”
