Lazio ace Stefano Mauri is still celebrating Sunday's memorable 2-1 victory over city rivals Roma.

The Giallorossi took the lead, but they were eventually defeated after Simon Kjaer was dismissed and Miroslav Klose scored in injury time.

"I still have chills from the derby last night," the Italian international told his personal website. "It was a fantastic evening.

"We struggled, we were made to sweat, but we eventually brought home the victory."

Mauri made a substitute appearance in the game after recovering from injury, but he thinks that the key contribution on the night came from the home fans.

"I want to take this opportunity to thank the supporters, especially those in the Curva Nord," added the former Brescia player.

"They encouraged and charged us up for the entire game, even when we were losing and couldn't equalise.

"We were able to give our fans an immense joy and we were also finally able to take back this city…"

Sunday's win was Lazio boss Edy Reja's first after four straight derby defeats as Biancocelesti Coach.
