President Walter Mattioli has claimed SPAL will ‘appeal’ any decision that will lead to relegation from Serie A without resuming play.
SPAL are seven points away from safety as the season is at a standstill, but the patron would like a chance to climb out of the relegation zone and sent down over the table.
One of the hypotheses discussed would be to relegate the teams currently holding the last three places and Mattioli insisted he would fight such a decision.

“In recent months we have had hundreds of hours of videoconferences, but there are several scenarios published in the newspapers that have never been discussed,” Mattioli told Tuttomercatoweb.
“We must be ready, logically it will anger us if they say, ‘you are second to bottom and will have to go down without being able to play’.
“We will make all the possible appeals. We are ready to play till the end; we are mentally well and we believe we can do it.
“If the conditions are there, then we are. We are only sorry, because we won’t have our fans there.”
