Inter Scudetto winner Lothar Matthaus thinks Samuel Eto'o could make the difference in this weekend's Milan derby.

The two teams meet on Saturday night in the knowledge that a Nerazzurri victory would see them go top of the table.

"I think Eto'o could decide the game in favour of Inter," said the German great. "He's their extra man, a great champion at the service of his team. He's a delight for any Coach.

"For Milan, I would have said Zlatan Ibrahimovic if he wasn't suspended, but he's a very different player to Eto'o.

"His absence will be felt even if Eto'o, at this point in the season, is more decisive."

The Cameroon international has 19 goals in 27 top-flight games to his name, but his overall Inter stats improve to 29 goals in 37 matches thanks to his eight in eight in the Champions League and two in two Coppa Italia ties.

Matthaus, who helped Giovanni Trapattoni's legendary Inter side to the title in 1989, is certain that Inter will win at the Meazza.

"I say Inter, but I'm not just saying that as a fan, I'm saying it as a Coach," the 1990 World Cup winner added.

"They are the team in form. I'm also not choosing just Inter for the derby – the Scudetto will be Nerazzurro again this season."
