“It was a very important goal,” Matri told JTV.

“I want to thank the club, and my teammates who helped me, it was probably the most important goal of my career.

“That it was the goal which secured the ‘Decima’ and will remain in the history books is a source of pride for me.

“Winning the Coppa Italia was as important as the Scudetto.”

The season is not over for the Old Lady, with the chance of completing a treble against Barcelona in the Champions League final on June 6.

“We don’t want to miss our appointment on June 6. We’ve reached a final which maybe nobody expected us to get to.

“We’re confident that we’re preparing well, and we want to show our strength against a formidable opponent, and try to cause them problems.”

Finally, Matri discussed Serie A and his return to Juventus in January, on-loan from Milan.

“Tomorrow [against Napoli] will be a party, even if it’s a game not to be underestimated, we’ll have to go onto the pitch with commitment and professionalism.

“We always want to do well, and we can’t afford to make mistakes in these games, and of course Napoli is always a big game.

“The League was in the balance until January, but then Juve showed our strength by dominating and pulling away from the other teams.

“Everything is going the right way.

“Coming back here was unexpected, I had a small problem with my calf, it took me a while to get back into the swing of things, but I had everything available to do well.

“I knew the team and the Coach [Max Allegri] and that helped me to blend in.”
