Cagliari President Massimo Cellino thinks Juventus made the right decision in signing Alessandro Matri rather than Giampaolo Pazzini.

Juventus had long been admirers of Pazzini, but couldn't afford the Sampdoria striker and he joined Inter during the January transfer window instead.

Beppe Marotta then turned his attention to Matri, agreeing with Cagliari to loan the player until the end of the season with a view to a transfer worth €18m.

Beppe Marotta then turned his attention to Matri, agreeing with Cagliari to loan the player until the end of the season with a view to a transfer worth €18m.

Matri has scored three goals for Juventus already this season, including the winner in the Derby d'Italia against Pazzini's Inter.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he said: "Inter made a good choice. Pazzini is a strong player.

"But for my part, I'd say that Matri is more complete. He can do the entire attacking phase by himself."

Finally Cellino had praise for the job Roberto Donadoni has done in Sardinia since he replaced Pier Paolo Bisoli.

"The results speak for him. Roberto is professional, level headed and the team is also benefiting.

"As a person, I assure you that he is a lot better than he seems."
