Matri: Focus only on Genoa

Alessandro Matri says he is focused only on Genoa and their season objective of survival, rather than on his past or future.

The striker is preparing for the 2014-15 campaign with the Grifone, having agreed to a season-long loan move from Milan.

Prompted for reflection on what went wrong with the Rossoneri and his hopes of perhaps one day returning to San Siro, the 29-year-old was clear.

Prompted for reflection on what went wrong with the Rossoneri and his hopes of perhaps one day returning to San Siro, the 29-year-old was clear.

“Right now I am focused only on the present and doing well with the shirt of Genoa,” Matri has told Il Secolo XIX

“Then we will see what fate has in store for me. Meanwhile, I enjoy the enthusiasm that is around us, the many fans of Genoa, they are always very warm.”

It was a similar message delivered to Cittadigenova.com.

“I want to do well and re-launch myself without thinking of the past or the future.

“The fans have been fabulous, they always provide the right charge and are very welcoming.

“Our objective is survival, then once that is achieved we can look forward to other targets.

“I am a striker who likes to go deep and create the space. These first few days have been intense, but I want to get back into shape.”
