Fiorentina’s new starlet Ryder Matos is hitting the headlines and admits he’d love to “become like Alexandre Pato.”
The 20-year-old Brazilian has scored in two Europa League games this season, but is still looking for his first Serie A goal.
“Do I dream of the Scudetto? Every day,” he told the Corriere dello Sport. Matos arrived in 2009 from Esporte Club Vitoria and had a loan spell at Esporte Club Bahia last season.
“It is one of the dreams I cannot help but have considering I grew up in the Fiorentina youth academy. The Viola colours enter you like a punch to the heart. It’s indelible.
“Another dream I have is to become like Pato. People say we are similar in terms of characteristics, but time will tell whether that’s true.
“Giuseppe Rossi is always giving me advice and has become my idol. To learn from him is a real privilege.
“I am working to be ready when called, because after my goals in Europe I want my first in Serie A.”
