Nemanja Matic could reunite with Jose Mourinho at Roma after announcing his departure from Manchester United.

The 33-year-old defender confirmed via social media that this is his final season at Old Trafford, having been at the club since departing Chelsea for €44m in the summer of 2017.

He is available as a free agent and Tuttomercatoweb claim that Roma are in negotiations with the centre-back’s entourage to discuss terms for a new contract.

Matic followed Mourinho from Chelsea to Manchester United and had more games under the Portuguese tactician than anyone else in his career.

With only 27 competitive matches played so far this season, Matic still managed to provide two assists.

Roma have already signed one free agent for next season, picking up Serbia international goalkeeper Mile Svilar from Benfica.

Matic would be another former Premier League player making the switch to Roma after Chris Smalling, Tammy Abraham, Rui Patricio and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
