Marco Materazzi won the Treble in 2010 and believes he sees ‘the same’ family atmosphere in the current Inter squad facing Manchester City in the Champions League Final.

It kicks off at the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

Many former Inter players who won the Treble and indeed the last Champions League Final that the club experienced in 2010 are all in the stadium this evening.

They include Esteban Cambiasso, Ivan Cordoba, Lucio, Diego Milito, Julio Cesar, Mario Balotelli and Douglas Maicon.

“We are still a family today and I think that is the difference that took us to win everything. I see the same in the Inter squad today,” Materazzi told Sky Sport Italia.

Erling Haaland is the big danger man and he will be marked by Francesco Acerbi this evening.

“How do you stop Haaland? Shoot him?” was the initial suggestion from Matrix, but he then complimented Acerbi.

“There are similarities in our playing style, but he alone is not enough. In this competition, the team had eight clean sheets and I hope it can be nine this evening. They didn’t do that because of one player, it’s because the whole team worked together and suffered under pressure to deservedly reach the Final.”

Materazzi was asked which players he expects will have the strongest character to inspire the others in the Inter squad this evening.

“I say Acerbi, Barella, Calhanoglu and Lautaro are the ones who can make the difference this evening.”

Manchester City have become very dangerous on set plays from free kicks and corners, an area where Materazzi used to excel, but he believes Simone Inzaghi has worked out all the scenarios.

“They prepare well, but I assume Inter studied them carefully as well. I’ve seen City too suffer occasionally when under pressure and can also be hurt with shots from distance.”
