Marco Materazzi says Inter may not have needed to bring in Matias Silvestre this summer given the form of Juan Jesus and Andrea Ranocchia.
The Argentine was netted from Palermo on a loan deal, but a back-in-form Ranocchia and Juan Jesus have won the plaudits this week for their showing in the 2-0 win at Torino.
“Seeing as the club knew about the ability of Juan Jesus, with this Ranocchia and the senators back in form, they could have avoided signing Silvestre,” stated the former Inter hard man to the Corriere dello Sport.
“Juan was secure in his every intervention on Sunday, also thanks to a Ranocchia who many should apologise to for their judgements of him last season.
“The two compliment each other very well. Juan is perfect as a centre-back with a fast player alongside him, but with Ranocchia in this form that partnership is fine.
“There is also the option of playing a three-man defence seeing as I would never leave Walter Samuel out of the side.”
