Marco Materazzi replied to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s elbow in the revenge head story by reminding the Swede of his World Cup and Champions League trophies.

Milan striker Ibra gave an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, publicising his upcoming book Adrenaline.

He referenced his clashes with former Inter defender and teammate Materazzi.

“Materazzi would tackle you from behind intending to hurt you, and we players immediately realise when someone is just tackling tough like Giorgio Chiellini, like Jaap Stam or Paolo Maldini,” said Ibrahimovic.

“I had unfinished business with Materazzi for years. I got him back in a derby. He went flying in with his feet raised, I jumped to avoid him and in the process got him with an elbow to the temple.”

Materazzi evidently read the interview, because he sent out a tweet this afternoon with images of the World Cup and Champions League trophies, both tournaments that Ibrahimovic has never won.

“Silent post!” wrote Matrix along with his message.

Inter won the Treble in 2010 a year after Ibrahimovic left the club.

  1. Materazzi is a disgrace to the art of defending. He and Roy Keane belong to the same class(less) of thugs disguising as footballers.

Inter itself is a blight on football.
