Cristian Ledesma has revealed his delight at being asked to play in the Match for Peace in Rome next month.

The Stadio Olimpico will play host to the charity game on September 1, and the midfielder has admitted it was honour to be asked by the organiser Javier Zanetti to take part.

“The most important thing for me is the message that this match is trying to get across,” he told reporters at The Vatican today.

“I have two sons and the message of peace is important to get across to the next generation.

“It’s such an honour to be asked to play. I’m sure it’s going to be a great occasion.”
