Manchester United’s pursuit of Roma’s Kevin Strootman could include offering Juan Mata or Marouane Fellaini as part of a deal.
The capital club’s director general Mauro Baldissoni firmly declared yesterday that their Dutch international is not for sale, but Louis van Gaal’s believed determination to land the midfielder could see a cash and player deal being tabled.
Rai Sport report that the Red Devils would be willing to include Spanish international Mata or the 26-year-old Fellaini as part of a bid to prise Strootman from the Stadio Olimpico in January.
Paris Saint-Germain’s 19-year-old Adrien Rabiot reportedly remains the Giallorossi’s priority in the transfer market but they could be interested in the addition of Fellaini instead or the arrival of Mata, who could replace the outgoing Adam Ljajic.
It will take an impressive offer from Manchester to sign the 24-year-old Strootman, who has been sidelined with a knee injury since last season but is seen as valued by his club at €75m.
United are understood to be ready to move this midseason, though, provided the midfielder returns to action by November.
