Milan’s director of sport Frederic Massara claims the break between Papu Gomez and Atalanta ‘isn’t that clear’ and insists Ibra’s injury doesn’t change the club’s  transfer objectives.

Gomez has been left out of Atalanta’s squad to face Roma and is expected to leave La Dea in January, according to reports in Italy.

“Gomez is a very talented player, but he belongs to Atalanta and we don’t want to get involved with their issues. As far as I can tell, the break isn’t that clear,” Massara told Sky Sport Italia.

“We have a very strong squad, we’re happy with it and we hope to continue the strong form we’ve had in recent months.”

Do Milan need a new striker after the injury of Ibra?

“Nothing has changed. We are convinced we have a squad up to the task, with many different options. The squad has already shown it can do well without Ibrahimovic, and although we hope he’ll be back as soon as possible, this doesn’t change our transfer objectives.

“As we’ve said, if we have the opportunity to improve the team in the right circumstances, then we’ll be ready to take advantage, but it seems unlikely there will be many good deals in January for anyone.”
