“It is an important match, especially as we want to get back to winning at home, something that’s been too long. We want to have a record at home that is close to the form we have away,” Massara told DAZN.

Mario Mandzukic donated his March salary to charity because injury prevented him from playing last month.

“It’s a rare gesture from a player who showed great ethical and professional values. He regrets that he hasn’t been able to give his contribution so far, but we are convinced the next eight games will give him a chance to show what we can do.”

Massara was asked if there were any updates on the contract renegotiations with Gianluigi Donnarumma, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Hakan Calhanoglu.

“We are confident that we can sign a deal with Ibrahimovic imminently. There’s no news yet on the others, but we feel confident there too, because the club has played its part and proposed some big figures, so we trust that they will be accepted.”

Genoa striker Gianluca Scamacca said this weekend that he’d be more than happy to act as understudy to Ibrahimovic.

“There are many young players who would love to work alongside Ibra, as our young strikers are. Scamacca is a very talented forward and his future is yet to be written.”
