Davide Massa will be the referee for the big match between Inter and Roma this weekend, while Gianluca Aureliano takes EmpoliMilan and Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi makes history as the first woman to officiate a Serie A game.

The Lega Serie A and AIA announced the referees and VAR officials assigned to this weekend’s Serie A Week 8 fixtures.

History is made in SassuoloSalernitana with Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi becoming the first woman ever to officiate a Serie A match.

The big game of the round is Inter vs. Roma at San Siro, so that has been handed to Massa, with Paolo Silvio Mazzoleni as his VAR.

Jose Mourinho sits out a one-match ban after his red card for dissent, so will be in the stands against his old club.

Massa has overseen 15 Inter victories, four draws and four defeats, while his record with Roma is of nine wins, nine stalemates and five losses.

That included the chaotic and contentious 4-3 loss to Juventus last season, which saw protests over a penalty that Wojciech Szczesny then saved from Lorenzo Pellegrini.
