Javier Mascherano warns his Barcelona teammates that Carlos Tevez loves big games like the Champions League final.

The midfielder will face off against his compatriot on Saturday in Berlin, and speaks highly of his international teammate.

“He’s terrific, he’s one of the best players I’ve ever played with,” Mascherano told reporters at a Press conference on the club’s media day.

“He has a fierce will to win. When you play against him you have to be very careful, he really likes these kind of games.”

“He has a fierce will to win. When you play against him you have to be very careful, he really likes these kind of games.”

The former Liverpool man also disagrees with Giorgio Chiellini, who said that Lionel Messi’s Copa Del Rey wondergoal wouldn’t be possible in Italy.

“I think he meant that in Italy they play a more tactical style and it’s harder to find space.

“That’s his opinion, but I think when Leo has the ball at his feet there’s no-one who can stop him.”

Barcelona are considered by most to be favourites for the match, but Mascherano was keen to play down that tag.

“Juve are in the same position as us, they can win the treble,” the 30-year-old reminded the assembled journalists.

“We’ll prepare this match like we would any other. There’s no such thing as being invincible, either in football or in life.

“We could win or lose, if you go in thinking you’ve already won, that’s dangerous, but the opinion of the fans is not shared by us.

“We can’t control what people think, and it’s too easy to say that Barça is the favourite.

“It’s a final between two great teams, and on Saturday we’ll see who’ll lift that cup into the sky. In the final, you don’t remember the game, just the end result.”
