Lautaro Martinez was elated with Inter’s performance as they put three past Lazio at San Siro on Sunday afternoon to lift themselves back into the Serie A top four.

Inter’s dominant display over Maurizio Sarri’s side also had an enormous part to play in teeing up the impending title celebrations down south as Napoli look to be crowned champions of Italy if they beat Salernitana at the Maradona.

However, Martinez was only concerned with what the result meant for his own team and was delighted with the showing the Nerazzurri put in.

El Toro emerged as a second half substitute and put the ball in the back of the net twice for Inter’s first and third official goals of the game after 78 minutes and on  the stroke of 90th respectively.

“It means so much, it means Inter are here, Inter have quality players with great character and we proved that once again today,” Martinez told Sky Sport Italia.

“I believe in this team, we have important players who are rediscovering their form at a crucial part of the season. We are in the Coppa Italia Final, the Champions League semi-final and in the running for the top four in Serie A.”

The LuLa partnership with Romelu Lukaku was in full flow in the second period of play. The Belgian registered two assists in the process: one for Robin Gosens and one for Martinez just over 15 minutes after the Argentine came on.

On his strike partner, Martinez added: “We are all in good shape, the important thing is that we all give everything on the pitch, whether we start or come off the bench. We need everyone.”

When asked about the impending celebrations at the Maradona, Martinez added: “I know Diego did so much for Naples, now I congratulate Napoli for this extraordinary season. They have been the best this year and deserve the title.”
