Manchester United loanee Anthony Martial confirms he snubbed offers from Juventus and Barcelona to join Sevilla: ‘It was the best option for my family and me.’

The France striker struggled with playing time at Old Trafford this season and moved to Spain on loan in January.

There were reports that both Juventus and Barcelona tried to secure his services during the winter transfer window and the 26-year-old has confirmed that both clubs held talks with his agent last month.

“It’s true, Juventus tried to sign me,” he said.

“They were talking to my agent but I told him that I preferred Sevilla. It was the best option for my family and me.

“Barcelona held talks with my agent as well, but once again, I said that my priority was Sevilla. I didn’t change my mind. I always keep my word when I say something to somebody.”

The Old Lady still managed to reinforce their attacking department by signing Dusan Vlahovic on a permanent €80m move from Fiorentina.

The 22-year-old scored on his debut against Hellas Verona last week.

Barcelona also secured the services of a new striker, signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on a free transfer from Arsenal.
