Olympique Marseille are accelerating in their chase of Lille’s Paulo Fonseca to try and remove the possible threat of Milan, Gianluca Di Marzio details.

The Rossoneri are on the hunt for a new head coach to replace Stefano Pioli and have seemingly narrowed their shortlist down to two options, Porto’s Sergio Conceicao and Fonseca, who seems to be their second choice.

Conceicao has entered a decisive period with Porto and could ultimately leave the club in the coming weeks following his meeting with new president Andre Villas-Boas, having a clause in his contract allowing him to depart despite the deal lasting to June 2028.

Marseille on Fonseca

Di Marzio details how Marseille are now pushing to try and convince Fonseca to accept their three-year offer, wanting to get the edge over Milan, who could still turn to the Lille coach should they not pick up Conceicao.

The Ligue 1 giants have offered the Portuguese tactician control of their technical direction, believing in his project, and are now waiting for his response.
