Kevin Strootman has agreed to switch Ligue 1 for Serie B as he prepares to move from Marseille to Genoa, reports suggest.

The 32-year-old Dutch midfielder spent last season in Serie A on loan with Cagliari, where he only made 10 league appearances due to a serious knee operation. Strootman returned to the French Riviera last month, but he won’t find space in Igor Tudor’s squad, so another departure is necessary.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Strootman has already agreed to return to Genoa, joining the Ligurian outfit on a loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy clause attached, partly based off their return to Serie A. Olympique Marseille will pay a large part of the Dutchman’s salary.

Strootman has reportedly already signed his new contract with the Rossoblu and he’s now ready to head to Liguria. He’s previously made 18 appearances for the club, providing four assists in that time.
