Olympique Marseille are expected to make an approach for Cagliari striker Giovanni Simeone, on loan with option to buy for €10m and other clauses.
He will be the replacement for Dario Benedetto, who is on the verge of a transfer to Sao Paulo.
The Ligue 1 side hope to clinch a deal with Cagliari to get Cholito Simeone on loan with an option to buy for €10m.
That option would then become an obligation at certain conditions, specifically after a certain number of appearances for the club.
Cagliari are absolutely ready to sell Simeone, as the 26-year-old cost €16m from Fiorentina, but has not delivered on the pitch.
He found the net 18 times in 70 competitive appearances for the Sardinians, although his form last term was woeful with just six goals in 33 Serie A games.
The son of Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has also been linked with Zenit St Petersburg and is not first choice at Cagliari.
