Roberto De Zerbi’s Olympique Marseille are closing in on a deal with Inter for Valentin Carboni as talks enter their final stages.

The 19-year-old Argentinian forward impressed during his season on loan with Monza, scoring twice and providing four assists across 31 league matches. He penned a new contract with the Nerazzurri last year, tying him to the club to June 2028.

Inter have high hopes for Carboni and believe in his ability to grow into a star, but are also aware that cashing in now would allow them to fund other transfer targets, like a new striker and defender. The club have been fairly quiet so far, only picking up Josep Martinez, Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi.

Marseille close to Carboni

Footmercato and Fabrizio Romano detail how Marseille are in the final stages of talks with Inter for Carboni, offering a loan deal with a €36m buy option attached. The Nerazzurri would hold a buy-back option in order to retain control of the 19-year-old.

Whilst there’s no total agreement yet, the two parties are in constant contact and are working on the remaining details.
